LES CAROTTES POUR LE JEUNE HOMME

well, it's official. what they say is true: kids eventually do grow up. and let me tell you, the last month and a half has been a whirlwind of advancements in our baby boy's skill set.

at 7.5 months, he's been army crawling, raising himself to a seated position, standing, imitating everything we do, saying papa and mama (maybe a little inadvertently), sipping water from a cup, eating ice chips from our drinks, using a high chair, reaching for us to pick him up, making jokes, anticipating games, recognizing songs, taking showers, playing with the dogs, and even starting to give kisses. and though i'd like to slow down the pace just a little bit, this is, of course, impossible.

little huckleberry's gonna get big.

so in the spirit of his progress, we let the bunny taste some solid food . . some bright orange farmer's market carrots.

i didn't think he was swallowing much of it, but his next morning's diaper told another story.

all of these new developments - even the poopy ones - are beautiful progressions in my child's growth, i know. i definitely can't stop them. i can't even really slow them down. and, truth be told, why would i want to? this is how it goes. my little boy's life is in motion. it's in not-at-all-slow but truly amazing motion.

  1. Ah Chris, I am so happy we have little boys close in age. They are truly wonderful, and lucky that their mamas and papas like good food!

  2. C'est tres amusante, n'est pas? Enjoy the journey, girl. Pretty soon, they'll be asking you how the baby gets OUT of the tummy.
