ELIMINATION DIET DAY ONE: NOT A BAD KICKOFF.

1. shrimp sauteed with garlic, ginger, coconut oil, coriander, salt, and pepper and avocado marinated in lime and mint.

2. kale chips.

THERE GOES THE TOILET PAPER ROLL.

p.s. by the way, we've been roasting tomatoes each week throughout the winter. here's how: cut the tomatoes in half and toss them with a little bit of olive oil on a baking sheet. roast at 200 degrees for up to 5 (or so) hours, or until the tomatoes are kind of shriveled and sun-dried-looking and sweet as honey. then put them in a mason jar in the fridge until you use them on a salad or in pasta or in eggs or on pizza or with anything at all, really. they're delicious!

first up: a little something for huck's first birthday.

it's a pretty small project, but when you've been gone a while, you gotta bite off only what you can chew, you know? and i know it's a little early yet, but my niece's birthday is november 1st and we are doing both banners at the same time. either way, it was super fun and easy (not even any sewing, just cutting and ironing) and it will look really cute strung up.

next up: pillows for our bed and a duvet cover for huck's down comforter.

p.s. huck's t-shirt reads "eu amo papai" which means "i love daddy" in portuguese. he has another one that says "eu amo brasil" which means -- as you can probably guess -- "i love brazil" but he chose this one for today. you know, it being father's day and all.

I LOVE LISTS

i know it, my family and friends know it, and now you know it too. if you can believe it, i just erased this one from the big chalkboard this morning (a whole two months after huck was born).

i also love calendars and day planners so much that i keep the old ones to remind me what i was doing each day in that phase of my life. in fact, one of my favorite wedding gifts was a five year diary that i write in every night before bed. essentially, it is a journal with only enough room to write - you guessed it - a list's worth of daily events.

hmm . . . . as long as i'm admitting to my predilection for making and keeping lists, i may as well tell you that i also like little notes. and yes, i hang on to those too.

WALLPAPER

lately i've really been wanting to wallpaper something. anything. but preferably a dining room wall. this is the kind of thing i think about when i'm awake and nursing in the middle of the night.
